Nigerian Film Corporation produces and distributes Nigerian films. Its services include film archiving, training/research, co-productions, equipment rentals, consultancy, productions, industry support/promotions, and film commission services. The company’s functions include production of films for domestic consumption and export; establishment of maintenance of facilities for film production; production of Nigerian films through financial and other forms of assistance; encouragement of the development of cinematograph theatres by Nigerians by way of financial and other forms of assistance; acquisition and distribution of films; and the establishment and maintenance of national film archives.

What is your personnal experience ?

It is my first time in Cannes. I found the Festival very exciting and rewarding for professional film makers especially in networking. I also observed that many countries promote their film industries by taking a pavillion in Cannes. It is indeed a meeting of global film practitioners.

 What are you in charge in NIGERIAN FILM CORPORATION ? A firm ?

I am the Executive Director Operations of the Nigerian Film Corporation in charge of operational matters. The Corporation is a Federal Government of Nigeria owned Agency established by law responsible for the development of the film industry in Nigeria.

 What kind of objectives do you develop ?

The statutory mandate of the Nigerian Film Corporation is to provide an enabling environment for the growth and development of the film sector in Nigeria. Specifically in the area of training & capacity building, provision of facilities, archiving, support services, research, policy, marketing & promotions, etc.

 And so the programs you are responsable of ?

I am responsible for all programmes of the Coporation that impact on the film industry in Nigeria as outlined above and more.

Do you have private supports ?

The Corporation's programmes and activities are funded by government through annual budgetary allocation. There is no private sector financial support, only in goodwill and appreciation of our effort in developing the sector.

Do you have specific projects for the next two years, can you talk about ?  

The Corporation has a medium term capital development programme that is rolled over every three years if not completed as well as programmes that are aimed at facilitating growth of the industry. Specifically, they include: film taining, production & archiving infrastructure, film festival & marketing, film fund, etc.
